Julia Kent’s album Green and Grey is the follow up to her debut, Delay, which used recordings taken from airports as its foundation. This time around she is taking a more natural approach with an album that is inspired by the intersections between the green of the natural world and the grey of the world built by humans. Layering beautiful harmonies that give the sound a rich and full organic feel in response to the subtle technological aspects making it feel more modern. With the use of field recordings taken from windswept grasslands and the murmur of insects she creates strong imagery that is stunning through repeated listens. She strikes a balance between the two mediums making you feel that they should not be kept separate but instead dwell together in harmony.
