In The Age of Wonder, Richard Holmes catalogs the opulence, exactness, import, and zeal that characterized the men and women, scientists and artists, that shaped the international Romantic movement in the 18th century.  “Age of Wonder,” from The American Dollar’s latest release Atlas, ushers us into a new age not dissimilar to that pivotal point in aesthetic history – one of artistic precision, enthusiastic delivery, and resonating splendour.  Crystalline pianos and interstellar guitars are now expected of the NYC-based duo, but the symbiosis between the two perfects the work of three previous albums.  “Circuits” and “Flood” force us to choose between aural introspection and temporal transcendence.  Atlas, showcased to the world on January 1st, was the first instrumental release of the decade, so it is only appropriate that it is Nowlikephotographs’ first Record of the Week in 2010.
