LOSS OF A CHILD MYSPACE / LOST CHILDREN WEBSITE
In “Ode on a Grecian Urn,” Romantic poet John Keats wrote “beauty is truth, truth beauty – that is all / Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” Similarly, the sixth track of Loss of a Child’s latest album, Carry Me Home, is dubbed “Beauty is truth, youth beauty.” Both Keats and Loss of a Child are from England. But unlike Keats who, as legend tells it, died heartbroken of a very critical book review, Loss of a Child shows no sign of burning out early, and especially not from arch words. Loss of a Child is their fifth album, all of which have been released for free download through the Lost Children netlabel. The quiet tracks on Carry Me Home are like a demure insomniac’s late-night piano therapy. These splendorous interludes are interrupted by sharply rhythmic, abruptly calling for chaos and transcendence.
Look for the much-beloved podcast to begin again shortly into the new year.
