RUSSIAN CIRCLES OFFICIAL SITE / RUSSIAN CIRCLES MYSPACE
It’s the same old story. The original fans complain that Russian Circles has grown soft, that they’ve lost their edge, that they don’t know how to blow our minds with the tech-furiosity they mastered on Enter. The original fans are wrong. Geneva is the third full-length from the Chicago trio. Although it came out only a year and a half after Station, the world was ready to be ravaged once more. Songs like “Malko” and “When the Mountain Comes to Muhammed” combine the metallic crustiness of Russian Circles’ earliest work with the dominant ambient work of Station. “Philos,” the closing track of Geneva, is pure cinematic catharsis.
Russian Circles are playing the Triple Rock Social Club on November 25th. Young Widows and Git Some supporting.
